My sister just made this brownie recipe (varying the ingredients a bit--less than half the butter, maple syrup and other little tweaks) and it is TO DIE FOR. I seriously was eating it by the spoonful.  Oh gaaaaash. 101 Cookbooks is sooo good & kudos to Chub for exploring some healthier options.

I've been craving a s'more ALL summer. I'm still trying to get my sister to make one for me.

There have been a gazillion s'more inspired recipes online..

Whenever I think of s'mores I think of that scene in The Sandlot when they explain to Smalls what a S'more is.

Ham Porter: Hey, Smalls, you wanna s'more?
Smalls: Some more of what? Ham Porter: No, do you wanna s'more? Smalls: I haven't had anything yet, so how can I have some more of nothing? Ham Porter: You're killing me Smalls! These are s'more's stuff! Alrite now pay attention. First you take the graham, you stick the chocolate on the graham. Then you roast the 'mallow. When the 'mallows flaming... you stick it on the chocolate. Then cover with the other end. Then you scarf. Kind of messy, but good!

just keep swimming

Tuesday, July 20, 2010

My favorite time to swim at the beach in Los Angeles is around 4-5pm..everyone is packing up and it gets really calm and quiet. Growing up my dad used to take us to the beach at this time so we could have a brief swim while the rest of the beach-goers slowly made their way home. It's so refreshing and salty. I always prefer the run and jump in method as opposed to wading slowly in. Yesterday Hannah and I (after a dusty hike with Vanessa along Will Rogers State Park) headed to the beach around 4pm and swam out as far as we could. There was actually a seal getting really playful and friendly who was swimming around the same area..it was really nice summer time moment.
