This year we all have so many things to be thankful for. I'm so proud and so blessed to have such wonderful people surround me everyday. I'm thankful for my amazing family, my patient and loving boyfriend, and my lovely friends who continue to make me a better person. I love you all very much.

I'm running a bit behind on sharing our latest adventures..donc here are some photos from Arles. Hugo and I went for a visit to the neighboring town a couple of weeks ago. It was really something special to see where Mr. Gogh lived and painted (and cut off his ear!). We walked around and met a very nice artist who had made some beautiful engravings. He mentioned we should check out the collective exposition "Embrasez vous!" This turned out to be wonderful advice because we both found the exposition to be really captivating. There were modern works of several artists arranged thematically inside a church. The juxtaposition of new and old was really something beautiful.

anniversaire de hugo
Sunday, September 25, 2011
Hugo's birthday is five days after mine and he is a year older. We celebrated with his family by drinking pink champagne and eating his favorite cake (carrot) that I made for him. It was really special and lovely!
Also, my sister requested that I write more on my posts (what a pest!). So, I'm going to note a few observations I've made recently in the next couple of posts. Read more...

Avignon

When we returned from Le Mans, we made a trip to Avignon to pick up Hugo's car from the train and to visit with his cousin Claire. Claire and her boyfriend work in the tourism business in Avignon and I have to say it's one of the most beautiful towns I have visited in France. Avignon is nicknamed the "City of Popes" because of the presence of the popes between 1309 to 1423. The Palais des Papes is a gorgeous structure built right into the surrounding rock. It's really breath-taking.
The town is charming..with winding streets and hidden fountains..it some ways it reminds me of Rome. We ate at the cutest restaurant ever called "Ginette and Marcel". We each ate a delicious tartine--mine was brie with walnuts and honey! mmm mmm! Avignon was beautiful and Claire was a great guide! Can't wait to visit again!
boating in France

Hugo's family has an amazing sailboat and last week we got to sailing. The Mediterranean sea is the bluest thing I have ever seen! It was very beautiful and the water felt great! Warm as toast as my father would say. Hugo's stepdad has an awesome camera that he attaches to a kite to take pictures from above. On the way home we got some calamari and pizzas. It was a perfect day! Ps. They even let me steer the boat! :)
